GREENSBORO, N.C. — The Millington Central High School Track and Field team delivered a standout performance at the 2025 Adidas Outdoor Nationals in Greensboro, N.C., hosted at North Carolina A&T’s Marcus T. Johnson facility.

The Trojans represented Flag City and the Volunteer State well by making their mark on the national stage. Millington athletes brought home medals in three events and earned four Adidas All-American honors.

Leading the charge, the Millington boys 4x200m relay team captured a national championship, running a time of 1:27.09 to not only break their school record but also set a new Adidas Outdoor Nationals meet record.

The Trojans also earned a runner-up finish in the 4x100m relay, posting a season-best time of 41.65 seconds.

Team members Charles Brown, Tayshaun Dye, Rodney Gude Jr., Derrick Bolden, and Eric Bell were all instrumental in the team’s success. In addition to the relay accomplishments, Charles Brown added to the medal count with a third-place finish in the open 400m dash, clocking 49.01 seconds.

Coach Cochran stated things started off rocky on Day 1, and that’s when the team called a meeting back at the hotel. Coach Sam Henderson delivered the quote of the year during that moment, telling the team, “It’s hard to be big when little got you.” After that, the Trojans shook off “little” and it was no looking back.

This historic showing is a testament to the hard work and dedication of the athletes and coaching staff. The Trojans are led by coaches John Cochran, Sam Henderson, and Edd McGhee, who continue to build a culture of excellence and national competitiveness at Millington Central.

Head Coach John Cochran would like to extend a sincere thank you to all the parents, staff, and community members who supported the team throughout the season and followed along during the Adidas Nationals.

“Your encouragement, presence, and belief in our athletes play a major role in our success,” Cochran said. “This is an example of what One Millington truly means.”
