Hello Millington Family!

We wanted to reach out with an update as it relates to the 2020-2021 school year in light of Governor Lee’s Executive Order 50 today. We are being attentive to new developments with the Shelby County Health Department, Tennessee Department of Education and other health care professionals and associations. We want our children and staff to feel safe when returning to school in the Fall. We are taking all necessary steps to ensure a Fall return will align with State, Federal and Local guidelines and protocols. We feel that it is paramount for our children to engage in a learning environment in which they feel safe and secure. This said, we still plan to move forward with our reopening plans for the 2020-2021 school year and will remain invested in the latest information from the Tennessee Department of Education and Shelby County Health Department.

Additionally, we reached out to TN Commissioner of Education, Dr. Penny Schwinn, and she said the following:

"...This executive order does not apply to schools. Districts should continue to make the best local decisions for school reopening specific to their local contexts."

We plan to hold a Virtual Town Hall meeting on July 7th at 6:00 to answer any questions that you may have about reopening schools for the 2020-2021 school year. This Virtual Town Hall meeting will be on our Facebook Page.
